The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielded actor Arun Govil, popularly known for playing the role of Ram in the TV serial Ramayan, from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
After appearing in the TV serial ‘Ramayana’, he became popular across the country and image and became a significant face among the audience, leading him to earn a lot of love and respect.

Who is Arun Govil?
Born on January 12, 1958 in Meerut district, Govil spent his childhood in Shahjahanpur. Apart from Ramayana, Arun Govil has worked in many TV serials, but he garnered the most fame from Ramayana.
Govil has worked in several films and serials after Ramayana. He has been seen in Doordarshan’s serial ‘Vikram Aur Baital’ and even in recent films ‘OMG-2’ and ‘Article 370’.
In the first year of Ramayana, which is 1979, Govil played important roles in two films ‘Sawan Ko Aane Do’ and ‘Saanch Ko Aanch Nahi’. His first film, ‘Paheli’ released in 1977 and after that he did many films like ‘Luv Kush’, ‘Sasural’, ‘Shiv Mahima’, ‘Ganga Dham’, ‘Judai’, ‘Jio To Aise Jio’, ‘Radha Aur Sita’, ‘Muqabala’ and ‘Hukus Bukus’.

As per media reports, Arun Govil used to charge Rs 51,000 for an episode of Ramayana. There were a total of 81 episodes in the serial and accordingly, he received an amount of more than Rs 40 lakh for this entire serial.
According to reports, Arun Govil’s total assets are said to be Rs 38 crore. In the year 2022, he also bought a luxury car worth about Rs 60 lakh. Apart from acting, the actor also earns from advertisements.
