The trend of creating natural botox from flaxseeds is spreading across the internet, with many incorporating these little seeds into their skincare routines.

Flaxseeds are known for their health benefits as they are rich in omega-3 fatty acids which support heart health, and lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Their high fibre content aids digestion and helps in managing weight. Additionally, they play a role in regulating blood sugar levels and promoting brain function. In recent times, flaxseeds have gained attention for their potential skin benefits, with many considering them as a natural substitute for expensive Botox treatments.

On Instagram, a popular page named ‘homebeautyhack’ shared a detailed guide for the preparation of a flaxseed face mask. The post highlights a simple procedure which requires just two ingredients – 2 tablespoons of flaxseeds and water. Here’s the detailed procedure:

  1.  Grind flax seeds into a fine powder using a blender or coffee grinder.
  2.  In a small bowl, mix the ground flaxseeds with water to form a thick, consistent paste.
  3. Cleanse your face thoroughly before applying the paste.
  4. Using clean fingers or a brush, apply the flaxseed paste evenly on your face, avoiding the eye area.
  5.  Allow the paste to dry for about 15-20 minutes or until it tightens on your skin.
  6. Gently wash off the dried paste with warm water. You can use a mild cleanser if needed.
  7. Pat your face dry and follow up with your regular moisturiser,” the guide in the caption read.

However, before applying the mask on the entire face, it is advisable to perform a patch test on a small area of your skin to avoid any adverse effects on the face.

What Is Botox?

Botox is a treatment which is used to reduce the signs of ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles on the face. This procedure temporarily relaxes the muscles, which makes the wrinkles less noticeable. Many people often get Botox injections to make their skin look younger. It is also used to treat other medical conditions like excessive sweating, overactive bladder, migraines, and muscle spasms. However, people who usually get Botox treatments require periodic sessions in order to maintain the results since the effects of Botox last for a few months only.

As flaxseeds become a new popular trend just like rice masks, people may avoid expensive Botox treatments. Flaxseeds can act as a great alternative for the skin as Botox injections can cause discomfort, swelling, headaches, and other side effects.
