The expert said that practising Dhanurasana in yoga can alleviate PCOD issues in women and address menstrual problems.

In our modern and fast-paced world, we often face issues such as insufficient sleep and irregular eating patterns. These problems, if disregarded, can lead to various health conditions in women. The evolving lifestyle can impact our hormonal balance, contributing to conditions like Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD). There are numerous approaches to address and combat PCOD effectively.

Vijayalakshmi, a yoga instructor based in Coimbatore, has advised women that practising Dhanurasana in yoga can alleviate PCOD issues in women and address menstrual problems. Vijayalakshmi stated, “Dhanurasana is a fantastic yoga pose for women. Consistent practice of this asana can help reduce abdominal fat, strengthen the uterus and address PCOD issues. It also aids in expanding the chest and improving lung capacity, which can benefit individuals with asthma. Moreover, it can effectively alleviate menstrual-related problems.”

Vijayalakshmi, who resides in Bharati Nagar near the Ganapati area of Coimbatore, has been teaching yoga to students in schools and colleges for 13 years. She has received the Yoga Kalaimamani Award for her outstanding yoga instruction and also provides complimentary yoga training to students in government schools.

Another highly recommended asana for PCOD is the Butterfly Pose. To perform it, sit on a yoga mat with your feet together, clasp your hands and place them on your feet, resembling a butterfly. Then, flutter both legs. This asana is beneficial for the uterus and should be done twice, with 20 counts each time.

The Yoga Mudra Asana is another effective pose for PCOD. To practice it, sit in Padmasana (cross-legged position), then fold your right hand into a Yoga Mudra by tucking the thumb inside the palm and folding the four fingers over the thumb. Lean backwards and use the fingers of your left hand to hold your right wrist. Inhale and exhale as your head touches the ground. Repeat this, keeping your hands on the floor, and bend backwards, counting to ten.
