British Man Stabs Wife 41 Times in Turkish Hotel, Held While Fleeing in Blood-Soaked T-Shirt – News18

A British tourist faces murder charges after allegedly “stabbing his wife ’41 times’ with a screwdriver” in a Turkish hotel room, according to UK media reports.

The body of the 26-year-old woman was found around 12:30 pm local time on Tuesday when hotel staff at the Ulubat Castle Hotel in Istanbul responded to disturbing ‘sounds’ from the couple’s room, finding the victim “lying in a pool of blood”.

The body of the victim was found with lacerations on her throat and body, the Daily Mail reported. Turkish police swiftly arrested the husband, 28, reportedly “wearing a bloodied white T-shirt,” attempting to flee in a taxi.

The suspect now in custody, confessing to the crime, claimed to have disposed of the murder weapon in the hotel room’s toilet. He disclosed a drug-induced argument with the victim, alleging she gave him drugs on the day of the attack. Citing ‘psychological disorders,’ he admitted to “repeatedly stabbing his partner ‘with the screwdriver’” before fleeing and hiding evidence.

Local authorities tracked him through the taxi, leading to charges of “intentional murder against his wife.”  The couple arrived in Turkey on November 11, settling into their hotel on November 14. The suspect’s narrative suggests a drug-fueled altercation. The incident mirrored previous cases involving British tourists in Turkey.

Earlier, a British woman faced accusations of throwing her boyfriend off a hotel balcony in Turkey.  The British newspaper said the UK Foreign Office remains prepared to assist British nationals, although no consular assistance has been requested. The Ulubat Castle Hotel, the crime scene, is yet to provide a statement.
