NCERT has said that books for classes 3, 4, 5, 9, and 11 will be available in the market by this month, while books for class 6 will be available in May

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will release books for classes 3 and 6 under the new syllabus in April and May. The council said that books for classes 3, 4, 5, 9, and 11 will be available in the market by this month, while books for class 6 will be available in May.

Releasing books for two classes under the new syllabus has been planned by NCERT as Class 3 marks the beginning of preparation and Class 6 marks the beginning of the middle stage and they need a revamp so that they are in line with the national curriculum.

Earlier last week, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) directed all affiliated schools to follow the new syllabus and textbooks for classes 3 and 6 from the 2024-25 academic session this month and in May. NCERT also said that it is trying to provide school books on time and till now about 33 lakh books of classes 1, 2, 7, 8, 10, and 12 have been printed and delivered to the book shops.

To transition to the new syllabus, NCERT has introduced the “Bridge Programme” for schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS). Guidelines have also been prepared by the council.
