Union Public Service Commission ( UPSC) has released the results of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy Examination (II) 2023. A total of 699 candidates have passed the written examination followed by the SSB interview. Among many future army officers, one of them is Amay Kumar Pandey. Hailing from the land of Nawabs, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Amay Pandey has secured an AIR of 164 in the exam. He is only 18 years old.
While talking to Local18, Amay said that his father is in the police force and he drew inspiration to become an army officer after watching his father. “I have seen my father wearing a uniform since childhood. That is why there was a different kind of attachment to the uniforms. When I talked to my father about going into a job that has uniforms, he said that instead of joining the police, join the Indian Army where the uniform is respected the most.”
Hence, after completing high school at City Montessori School in Gomtinagar, Lucknow, Amay started preparing for NDA. He gave his written exam in September while the interview was held in December, added Amay.
For preparation, Amay said that he joined a coaching institute called Shield Defence Academy. He has chosen the Indian Army cadre. He will be under the training for three years. After this, he will be commissioned into the position of Lieutenant. Along with him, only three other applicants were selected from his batch of SSB interview candidates.
Amay said that NDA i.e. National Defense Academy allows people at a young age to become Class One rank officers in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. He grabbed this opportunity with open arms and has achieved success. He will join the Indian Military Academy in June. Amay Pandey proved that realising your true passion at the early stage of life is equally important as hard work. He always wanted to become an army officer and with the right guidance, he has not taken his first step towards his goal.
The results of the medical examination have not been taken into consideration in preparing the merit list. The document verification stage is underway and the merit list can be changed accordingly if the candidate is found ineligible.
