Lenovo has introduced its handheld gaming console, Legion Go, taking on the likes of Asus’ ROG Ally and Nintendo Switch. Similar to ROG Ally, Lenovo’s Legion Go runs Windows 11 and is powered by the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor. Here’s all you need to know about Lenovo’s first handheld gaming console.

The Legion Go features an 8.8-inch QHD+ IPS LCD, having a 144Hz refresh rate, 500 nits of peak brightness, and covers 97 per cent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. There is also a kickstand at the back to prop up the console on a surface. The power button has RGB lighting with the iconic Lenovo Legion ‘O’ that changes colours to indicate the user-selectable fan mode.
Featuring Nintendo Switch-like controllers, named Legion TrueStrike controllers, which is attach to the body through magnets and can be detached when needed.
The controllers have hall-effect joysticks that prevent joystick drift and minimise dead zones to enhance responsiveness and accuracy. In addition to the joysticks, the controllers also have an integrated trackpad, a large D-pad, an angled mouse wheel, and a total of 10 mappable shoulder buttons, triggers, and grip buttons. Moreover, the joysticks have customizable RGB rings that add a stylish touch and also act as a notification system for controller pairing. There is an optical eye sensor at the bottom of the controller that allows for precise aiming and control.
The Lenovo Legion Go comes equipped with an AMD Z1 Extreme APU, 16GB LPDDR5X 7500MHz RAM, and up to 1TB of NVMe M.2 2242 PCIe Gen 4 SSD. Additionally, it also has a UHS-II microSD card slot that can be used to expand the storage up to 2TB.
Lenovo says that the Coldfront thermal technology on the Legion Go includes a liquid crystal polymer 79-blade fan that operates at less than 25dB of fan noise in Quiet Mode. The device can reach a full 25W of TGP in Custom Mode.
Running Windows 11 out-of-the-box, the Legion Go comes with Legion Space, which allows users to easily access all their gaming platforms and stores. Legion Game Store syncs with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for seamless game purchases. Legion Space groups compatible game launchers and offers easy access to the entire game library. Additionally, users can also customise the settings, such as resolution, refresh rate, brightness, and more.
The console is backed up by a 49.2Wh battery with support for Super Rapid Charge, which charges up the battery up to 70% in just half an hour. Additionally, when gaming while plugged in, the Lenovo Legion Go features a power bypass mode, which protects the battery from degradation and eliminates heat.
The Lenovo Legion Go includes dual USB Type-C ports that support DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery 3.0. Furthermore, the console supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
