The clash between the best heavyweight in boxing and MMA came together to put on a blockbuster show where Francis Ngannou managed to put in a scintillating display against the boxing heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury.

Tyson Fury’s blockbuster fight against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou led to an aftermath of controversies.

Recently, a video from the fight has surfaced on X which has been catching the attention of several fans. In the clip, Fury is seen getting floored by Ngannou but the referee of the match seems to have only counted to eight despite the clock reading 16 seconds.

The post read, “The Ngannou vs Fury Knockdown with a timer. Yes, it’s a 10 count, not 10 seconds. Yes, Ngannou should have gone to his corner. Yes, the ref was at an 8 count 16 seconds in. What do y’all think??????” This has split the internet with fans suggesting that the count was biased and that it was poor officiating overseen by the British Boxing Board of Control that cost Ngannou his match. Others seemed to think that the decision was fair and per the rules.

One of the fans backed Tyson Fury saying, “He was up already, the ref probably waited for Ngannou to get to the corner but I doubt it had an effect. The ref could’ve also counted 8 and then made Fury walk around a bit which would’ve given him extra seconds. All normal.”

Another sided with the different side of the spectrum suggesting that boxing was losing its credibility. “This is why boxing is losing to MMA. We don’t care about their paycheck. MMA is real fighting and we don’t get to worry about 10 counts.”

A third said, “The rule is clear. It is 10 counts and not 10 seconds. Ngannou delayed the count by not going back to his corner ASAP.”

“It was a flash knockdown, Fury was up in 5 seconds. This is just reaching nonsense”, wrote another.

Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou’s head-to-head has been one of the most anticipated fights of the year. The match took place last week on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Several celebrities flocked in to witness the epic fight. Ngannou had left UFC for boxing earlier this year due to certain contract disputes.

Boxing icon, Mike Tyson had helped prepare the Cameroonian for this fight. Tyson was present at the venue alongside several celebrities and athletes including Conor McGregor, Cristiano Ronaldo, Rio Ferdinand, Luis Figo, and Brazilian Ronaldo.

After an intense fight, most people thought that Ngannou had pulled off the impossible but the judges ruled the favour in Tyson Fury’s favour. Ngannou reacted to the decision on X saying, “This boxing world is wild but some judges should be responsible for their actions. This type of stuff is what ruins up people’s careers.” Despite the heartbreaking loss, Ngannou did gain the respect of several combat sports fans alongside a fee exceeding $10 million.
