The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission is hiring staff nurses for Unani hospitals for the first time. The AYUSH Department has sent a request for 27 positions in Unani hospitals to the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission. According to authorities, the exam format has also been decided. Additionally, the syllabus for this test has been prepared. Applicants from the SC-ST community have to pay Rs 65 for the application, while General OBC and EWS applicants pay Rs 125.
The recruitment of nurses for Unani hospitals is a major breakthrough as Unani medicine is still not recognised in India. In fact, the Indian Medical Association dubs Unani practitioners as quacks. Earlier this year, Unani Medicine received another major breakthrough when the Government College of Unani Medicine Chennai admitted its first batch of postgraduate students after almost 15 years of convincing the Central Council for Indian medicine.
Before this recruitment for Unani staff nurses, the recruitment of Staff Nurse Ayurveda was also done for the first time by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission. Prior to this, the Medical Education and Training Department of this Commission had already opened applications for recruitment for 171 positions in the Staff Nurse Allopathy category for men and 2069 positions for women. which received nearly 90,000 applications for a total of 2,240 positions. Regarding the Uttar Pradesh Ayurveda Department, 9118 applicants applied for 300 Ayurvedic staff nurse positions.
