Turkish police have released seven workers taken hostage by a gunman at a plant near Istanbul, owned by US consumer goods firm Procter & Gamble. The armed man had taken seven staff members hostage in an apparent protest against Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.The unidentified man entered the factory in the Gebze industrial zone in Kocaeli province around 3 pm on February 1. The hostages included six men and one woman, local media reported, adding that there was a second unidentified hostage-taker. Local officials said police staged a raid after attempting hours of negotiations with the gunman. The surprise raid came nearly nine hours into the standoff when the gunman took a bathroom break.
