Former Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard, who announced his retirement at the age of 32 recently, came out and spoke about the reasons behind his early retirement.

The boy that lit up Stamford Bridge, an ethereal talent who looked eons ahead of all those in his same age bracket. Eden Hazard was nothing short of a revelation in his seven years at Chelsea from 2012-2019.

The phenom, that was Hazard, mesmerized crowds all over the world, as he razzled and dazzled defenders with his mesmerzing and seemingly effortless skill with the ball.

The Belgian netted 110 goals and also put up 92 assists across his 352 appearances for the Blues. And there was no silverware that was left untouched during his time with them, as the Belgian won two Premier League titles, two Europa Leagues, the FA Cup and the League Cup with Chelsea.

It was in the summer of 2019 though, when Hazard made the decision of joining the ranks of the Los Blancos, Real Madrid. But, unfortunately for Eden, his time as a Galactico was one that was riddled with injury and tumultuous challenges.

Eden finally called it quits last week after leaving the La Liga giants this past summer.

“I had always said that I would stop as soon as I didn’t have fun on the pitch anymore. I didn’t want to go and play somewhere for the money,” he told L’Avenir.

“It was the best solution. I didn’t enjoy training anymore… And I wasn’t playing anymore. The decision was simple.

“In life, you can’t explain everything. I am at peace with myself. I’m happy. I have so many things to do outside of football that I was able to make a serene choice.”

Speculation was rife of Hazard making a move to the lucrative Saudi Pro League which has been graced by the presence of various other European superstars such as the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Neymar to name a few.

But, ultimately, the Belgian chose to close the curtains on his career and wade into the next chapter of his career, as gracefully as he did through the countless Premier League defenses that shivered at the sight of the swashbuckling talisman that is Hazard.
