Nader Al-Jindaoui made his debut as a professional footballer during a DFB Pokal round of 16 fixture against Hamburg.

In a surprising turn of events, a popular YouTuber named Nader El-Jindaoui, made his professional football debut on December 7. Jindaoui, who is a famous blogger, represented German football club Hertha Berlin in his first professional fixture. Jindaoui often posts videos along with his wife Louisa and daughter. Together the couple has around 1.75 million subscribers on their ‘Jindaouis’ YouTube channel. Some of their posts have millions of views across the family vlog content, while Jindaoui himself enjoys a little more than two million followers on Instagram. Jindaoui made his debut as a professional footballer during a DFB Pokal round of 16 fixture against Hamburg.

Nader El-Jindaoui came on the pitch in the 80th minute of the contest, played at the Olympiastadion Berlin in front of 60,000 fans. Jindaoui also shared a few pictures from the game on Instagram. “Dreams do come true,” read the translated version of his post.

Earlier, Hertha Berlin had posted a picture of Nader El-Jindaoui announcing the Berlin-born midfielder’s contract extension. “New year, new number! Nader El-Jindaoui extends his contract for another season! We are happy that you are staying from Herthan,” read the post shared by the German football club on Instagram.

Nader El-Jindaoui’s debut turned out to be a memorable one as Hertha Berlin secured a win against Hamburg. Playing at the Euro 2024 final venue, ex-Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny scored a last-gasp equaliser for Hertha Berlin to force the game into a tie-breaker. Jindaoui, who donned the number 17 shirt, converted his penalty kick during the shoot-out as the hosts prevailed over their opponents 5-3.

A report published by Sportbible claimed Nader El-Jindaoui has been with the club’s reserve side and features in the Regionalliga Northeast, which is the fourth tier of football in Germany. In an Instagram video shared by the official handle of Hertha Berlin, Jindaoui can be seen celebrating his side’s qualification to the quarter-finals of the DFB Pokal.

In their next match, Hertha Berlin will visit FC Kaiserslautern in the second tier of the Bundesliga on Saturday, December 9. Hertha Berlin are placed in eighth position of the Bundesliga second division points table.
