Following Al Duhail’s 4-3 defeat in the AFC Champions League fixture to Al Nassr, the Qatari side’s head coach Galtier could not refrain from appreciating Ronaldo for his stunning show, which included 2 goals.

Christophe Galtier has showered immense praise on Cristiano Ronaldo following the Al Nassr captain’s match-winning performance in an AFC Champions League match against Al Duhail on October 24. Galtier, who coached Paris Saint Germain last season, now serves as the manager of Al Duhail of the Qatar Stars League. During his tenure in the French capital, Galtier shared a close bond with Lionel Messi, who parted ways with PSG in July this year to join Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer (MLS).

Though his team ended up suffering a marginal 4-3 defeat in the AFC Champions League fixture, Galtier could not refrain from appreciating Ronaldo for his stunning show. The Portuguese superstar not only netted a brace but also had significant contributions to Al Nassr’s every attack towards the opposition’s goal.

During the post-match press conference, Christophe Galtier was asked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s impact on Al Nassr’s triumph. In reply, the Frenchman said, “When you face Ronaldo, there isn’t much you can do. He scored two beautiful goals. I’m at a loss for words to describe him.”

Galtier seemed to be a great admirer of Ronaldo as he did not take much time to brand the five-time Ballon d’Or winner as “the best player in the world.” “What he did is extraordinary for a 38-year-old. He’s still the best player in the world,” Galtier added.

Galtier was ousted from his position as the PSG boss only a few weeks after Messi left the club. The Argentina captain also didn’t receive a pleasant farewell from the PSG fans, who expected to win the much-awaited Champions League trophy during his spell. Despite failing to match the expectations, Messi won three trophies with PSG– two consecutive Ligue 1 titles and the French Super Cup in 2022.

Upon ending his ties with PSG, Galtier was all praise for Messi and described the World Cup-winning footballer as the “best player in the history of football.” “I had the privilege of coaching the best player in the history of football. Messi has been an important part of the team this year, always available. I don’t think any of the comments or criticisms are justified. He’s always been there for the team. It’s been a great privilege to accompany him throughout the season,” Galtier said.

Before jetting off to America, Messi represented PSG in 75 matches across all competitions during his two-season spell. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner scored 32 goals and provided 35 assists for the French outfit.
