Watch: Pictures of iPhone that survived 16000 ft fall from Alaska Airlines during mid-air window mishap – Times of India

An Alaska Airlines flight from Portland on its way to Ontario, California experienced an emergency midair when a window and a piece of fuselage blew out, causing a hole, which might have sucked out an iPhone, or two. A man on X (formerly Twitter) claimed to have found the iPhone that fell from that aircraft.
The man named Seanathan Bates posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) that he discovered an iPhone on the side of a road in Portland, Oregon while walking down the road.The iPhone was found to be in perfect condition and appeared to be completely unaffected by the fall from the aircraft flying at 16,000 feets.

The iPhone was found in airplane mode and had a half-charged battery. The man shared photos of the phone, which had a hard case on for protection. Although the model of the iPhone cannot be identified, it appears to be either an iPhone 14 Pro or one of the iPhone 15 models based on the photos shared on social media. So far, no one has claimed this iPhone.

Bates reached out to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) regarding a phone that had fallen from a flight, marking the second such incident. Ironically, Alaska Airlines is still searching for the aircraft window that fell.
Interestingly, this is not the first time an iPhone has survived a fall from a high altitude. In 2021, a pilot flying at 11,250 feet reported dropping his iPhone X while taking a picture. He was able to locate the phone using the Find My iPhone app, which showed it had landed in a cornfield. To his surprise, the phone was completely unharmed.
The plane returned to Portland International Airport safely, and all 174 passengers and six crew members were unharmed.
