US Mother, Her Three Daughters Killed in Suburban Chicago Shooting; Suspect Held – News18

Four people were fatally shot in a community outside the US city of Chicago on Sunday in what suburban officials described as a “domestic-related shooting.” US media reports said the victims are a mother and her three adult daughters, CBS News reported.

The victims have been identified as Majeda Kassem, 53; Halema Kassem, 25; Hanan Kassem, 24; and Zahia Kassem, 25. A suspect was taken into custody Sunday, according to a Tinley Park Public Safety Department social media post. The village of roughly 55,000 people is about 50 kilometers southwest of Chicago.

Police officers were investigating at the scene of the shooting in a residential area Sunday afternoon, officials said. “The offender is in custody and scene is secure,” the statement said. “Due to ongoing investigation, we are asking residents to stay out of the area.”

“We know that this was isolated to this home,” Village Manager Pat Carr said. “The [person was] taken into custody at the home. The scene is secure. There is only one suspect at this time, and we are confident that there is no threat to the general public in the area.”
