The UPSC preliminary examination is scheduled to take place on June 16, this year. As per the reports, several candidates plan to change their centres for the examination. Here is how you can change your centre’s location.
Reportedly, the Union Public Service Commission does not grant permission to change the exam centre’s location, unless it is a special circumstance. Last year, during the Manipur violence, many students were allowed to change their centres. It happened after the students filed a petition in the High Court, asking to let them change their UPSC examination centres. So, because of the fragile situation, they were granted permission.
Those candidates who have applied from Manipur for the UPSC examination 2024 have permission to choose their centres in the given places. These include Aizawl in Mizoram, Kohima in Nagaland, Shillong in Meghalaya, Dispur and Jorhat in Assam, Kolkata in West Bengal and Delhi. According to more information, the state government will take off all the expenses needed for the candidate’s journey. So, those who wish to change their exam centres for this year’s civil services exam can send their application through an e-mail, between the dates of April 8 and 19.
Furthermore, the centres can only be changed till the application correction window is open. During this period, the candidates can make several corrections to their application forms. However, after the window is closed, the students will not be given another chance to make changes to the application.
The UPSC examination is conducted in three parts. The first is the preliminary examination, then a candidate has to give the main examination and last, they have to appear for a personality test or interview. The first exam consists of objective-type questions, while the second has essay type. Candidates who successfully qualify for the mains, are then called for the interview.
As per the reports, the UPSC exam, scheduled to take place in May earlier, was pushed to June due to the Lok Sabha elections.
