An FIR was lodged against BJP candidate from Hyderabad, Madhavi Latha in connection with a row over ‘imaginary bow-arrow‘ gesture during the Ram Navami procession last week. She was booked under Section 295 A of the IPC which penalises deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings.

In his complaint filed against the BJP candidate on Sunday, an individual named, Shaik Imran from the First Lancer area accused Madhavi Latha of making derogatory comments against the Muslim community since her Lok Sabha candidature was announced.
On April 17, during the Rama Navami Shobha Yatra procession, Madhavi Latha made a gesture of drawing an imaginary arrow and shooting at a masjid located at the circle of Siddiamber Bazar. She expressed great joy after the heinous conduct of this action, the complainant said.
“This irresponsible action of hers has hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community to the extent that the entire community has felt the pain and anguish,” the complainant added, requesting to implicate Madhavi Latha under stringent laws and MCC to “set an example for others who might want to disrupt the peace and harmony in the city”.
BJP Candidate Madhavi Latha Reacts To ‘Imaginary Bow-Arrow Row’
After the clip drew flak, Madhavi Latha issued a clarification on the microblogging site X saying, “It has come to my notice that one video of mine is being circulated in the media to create negativity. I would like to clarify that it is an incomplete video, and if sentiments are hurt, then I would like to apologise as I respect all individuals (sic).”
‘This Is Ridiculous’: Madhavi Latha On FIR Against Her
BJP candidate Madhavi Latha called the complaint against her over the controversial arrow gesture, “ridiculous”.
“On the occasion of Ram Navami…for a dhanush that didn’t exist, for the teer (arrow) that didn’t exist, and for the reaction of the teer coming out which wasn’t there, they made a false video of mine…They have made an allegation and registered an FIR…One fellow said that I have provoked the Muslims and communally I have tried to provoke the Muslims. I would say that it is a festival moment. You cross a particular road and in my mobile and in other mobiles where this act was taken, the mosque wasn’t there in the frame…This is ridiculous,” Madhavi Latha was quoted by ANI as saying.
