Sancho caused a stir, with a post on the microblogging platform in retaliation to manager Erik ten Hag, who has asked the Englishman to apologise for the same. But he has not yet apologised to the Dutch manager and will remain out of the training roster, until the issue gets resolved.

Jadon Sancho continues to stay out of Manchester United’s playing eleven as he has reportedly refused to issue an apology to boss Erik Ten Hag following his social media outburst last week. Rumours about a potential rift between Sancho and Ten Hag emerged after the manager dropped the English winger from United’s crucial Premier League fixture against Arsenal on September 3. Coming out of the game, Ten Hag said in a media conference that Sancho was axed from the team sheet owing to his poor performance in training.

“Jadon, on his performances in training, we did not select him. You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the front line. So for this game, he was not selected,” Ten Hag was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

After the Dutchman’s remark came to light, Sancho was quick to rubbish the claims through a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). Clearing his stance on the matter, Sancho tweeted, “Please don’t believe everything you read. I will not allow people to say things that are completely untrue.” He also refused to believe Ten Hag’s logic that his training performance was the sole reason behind the snub.

Calling himself a “scapegoat,” Sancho added, “I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into.” Before signing off, the Englishman revealed that he would continue to battle till reclaiming his place in Manchester United’s starting lineup. “All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and am grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge,” Sancho said.

After his comments caused a stir, Sancho deleted the tweet from the microblogging platform. But he has not yet apologised to Ten Hag for the outburst despite being asked by United officials to do so, according to a report by the Athletic. Until the issue gets resolved, Sancho will remain out of the training roster. He is currently following a personal training programme away from Old Trafford.

“Jadon Sancho will remain on a personal training programme away from the first-team group, pending resolution of a squad discipline issue,” Manchester United said in a statement.

Sancho joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021 for a fee of £73 million. During his first season in the Premier League, Sancho was mostly a starter. He started falling down in the pecking order since leaving the club in October 2022 to watch the FIFA World Cup. He returned to Old Trafford in February after wrapping up a winter fitness programme in the Netherlands.
