In fact, with no goals and assists in 20 Premier League games, Antony has added only more misery to an already depleted United attacking line.

Spinning heads right around, as he spins on his own. With a bag full of nothing but one trick and nothing to show for it as well, Manchester United’s Antony has inarguably gone down as one of the Red Devils’ worst signings ever.

Well, it seems as if the club has had enough of the winger and, as per the latest reports, are ready to show him the door.

As per reports from the Daily Mail, Manchester United will listen to offers for Antony this summer as the Brazil winger’s miserable Old Trafford career continues to fizzle out.

But, the realistic expectation would be to make peace with the fact that they probably will not recoup the money they gave Ajax to facilitate the Brazilian’s move to Old Trafford.

The winger joined from Ajax in the summer of 2022, signing for an eye-watering sum of £86 million ($109m), making him the second most expensive signing in the club’s history. But, unfortunately for United, Antony has been nothing short of a failure, even under the guidance of his old Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag.

In fact, with no goals and assists in 20 Premier League games, Antony has added only more misery to an already depleted United attacking line.

His off-field controversies have also not helped. Erik Ten Hag admitted last month that Antony has been distracted by allegations of domestic abuse, which he strongly denies, that led to him being dropped by Brazil in September and spending some time back in South America to clear his name.

“We have all seen Antony’s form and he has to step up. I see it in training but also Omari Forson and Amad Diallo and Garnacho deserve to play,” said Ten Hag after United’s defeat to Fulham this past weekend.

United have undoubtedly been suffering with a lack of attacking intent and consistency. With Rasmus Hojlund’s fine form, the Red Devils somehow managed to string together a four-game win streak in the Premier League. But, the first game after he got injured, they went on to lose to Fulham at home.

The attacking woes don’t stop there though. This season, fellow United teammate Marcus Rashford has been nothing short of abysmal himself. With his on-field misfires and off-field shenanigans, the English forward continues his streak of inconsistent seasons as he struggles to find the back of the net, or establish a partnership with the likes of Hojlund.

A desperate call for renovation and reinvention is of the essence. And this will be the one of the main order of business as United embark on a new era under the new ownership of Jim Ratcliffe.
