Lok Sabha Election 2024 LIVE Updates: The first candidate list of Shiv Sena (UBT) in Maharashtra for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections is scheduled to be formally declared today (March 26). The list of the Uddhav Thackeray-led opposition party, a constituent of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the state, will feature up to 16 names, according to party leader Sanjay Raut. Another MVA constituent, NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) is also yet to officially declare its candidates in the state for the April-May Lok Sabha polls. On the other hand, the Congress, which is also a part of the state-level grouping of the opposition parties, has declared its candidates on some seats where there is no tussle with its alliance partners. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena is also likely to release its first list of candidates in a day or two, party leader and Lok Sabha MP Rahul Shewale said.
Meanwhile, The National Commission for Women (NCW) has written to the Election Commission of India (ECI), calling for ‘strict action’ against Congress leaders Supriya Shrinate and HS Ahir for their ‘lewd and derogatory’ social media posts against actor Kangana Ranaut, who is the BJP candidate from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh. Shrinate triggered a row on Monday with an Instagram post where she used Ranaut’s image with an objectionable caption. The post has since been deleted. The Congress leader clarified that many people have access to her Facebook and Instagram accounts and someone from them made an extremely inappropriate post today.
