The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to release its final list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. The party’s third central election committee meeting was held on Saturday in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and top leaders like party president JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath.
On the other hand, the Congress party on Saturday released its fourth list of 46 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls. While the list features some big names like former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh and Karti Chidambaram, the party continued to maintain suspense over the all-important Amethi and Rae Bareli seats in Uttar Pradesh.
For a straight third time, the Grand Old party has fielded its Uttar Pradesh unit chief Ajay Rai against Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi.
Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday in an excise policy-linked money laundering case.
The party is set to stage a protest in all assembly constituencies of Delhi on Sunday to protest against the arrest and will take out a candle march and burn effigies in protest against “BJP’s dictatorship” and the chief minister’s “illegal arrest”.
