FIFA have announced the nominees for their annual award ‘The Best’ under various categories including the best player, best coach, best goalkeepers for both the men’s and women’s categories.
FIFA have announced the nominees for their annual award FIFA ‘The Best.’ The nominations have come under various categories which are open for voting at the moment.

The Best FIFA Men’s Player: Many notable nominees have been included for this award like Lionel Messi for his outstanding campaign in the FIFA World Cup, in 2022 along with the likes of Julian Alvarez who has the unique achievement of winning the World Cup as well as getting the treble in the same season as well. Some more nominees include Kylian Mbappe for his exploits in the World Cup and for PSG, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen for winning the Serie A for Napoli. The likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, and Erling Haaland have also been nominated for their outstanding campaigns for Manchester City leading them to their first Champions League and a European treble.
The Best FIFA Men’s Coach: Pep Guardiola will be the favourite to win the award for his outstanding achievement with City by winning the treble making it the second in his career. Simone Inzaghi has also been nominated for winning the Coppa Italia and leading Inter to the Champions League finals as well. Luciano Spaletti has also been nominated for leading Napoli to a Serie A win. Some other notable nominees include current Tottenham manager, Ange Postecoglu who was nominated for winning the Scottish League for Celtic. Xavi has also been nominated for a dominant display in the Spanish league and winning the La Liga title as well.
The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper: Ederson got his name in for his treble-winning campaign with Man City while Thibaut Courtois secured his nomination thanks to a Copa Del Ray win, nomination in the Champions League Team of the Season. Yassine Bounou managed to win the Europa League with Sevilla and was part of the Morrocan team that went to the semi-finals in the World Cup. Marc Andre Ter-Stegen was in the La Liga Team of the Season and also managed to rack up the most clean sheets in the league’s history. Andre Onana was part of the Inter side that managed to go into the Champions League finals.
The Best FIFA Women’s Player: Aitana Bonmati managed to win the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Golden Ball, and the Champions League and was the Player of the Season in the Women’s Champions League. She also won the 2022-2023 Liga F and Supercopa de Espana. Lauren James was the runner-up in the Fifa Women’s World Cup as well as the winner of the FA Women’s Super League, FA Cup Winner, and won the Finalissima. Her teammate Sam Kerr also shares some of those achievements other than being the semi-finalist in the World Cup. Other notable nominees include Mapi Leon, Hinata Miyazawa, Lindsey Horan, Amanda Ilestedt, Alex Greenwood, Jennifer Hermoso, Caitlin Ford, Mary Fowler, Rachel Daly, Kadidiatou Diani and Linda Caicedo.
The Best FIFA Women’s Coach: Sarina Wiegman managed to lead England finishing as the runners-up and also became the first to do so with two different nations. She also won the Women’s 2023 Finalissima. Emma Hayes had a trophy-laden year with the win in the FA Women’s Super League, and FA Cup and also in the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League and the FA Women’s League runners-up. Other notable nominees include Peter Gerhardsson, Jonatan Giraldez, and Tony Gustavsson as well.
The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper: Mackenzie Arnold reached the World Cup semi-finals where she finished with four clean sheets in seven games. She also saved three penalties against France as well. , Ann-Katarin Berger managed to win the Super League FA Cup, the semi-finals of the Champions League and the League Cup runner-up. Catalina Coll, Mary Earps, Christiane Endler. Zecira Musovic and Sandra Panos Garcia-Villamil as included as nominees as well.
