A top Republican congressman’s suggestion that Gaza should be bombed like Japan’s “Nagasaki and Hiroshima” has triggered strong reactions. Speaking at an event in Dundee, Michigan on March 25, Tim Walberg said the strategy on Gaza “should be like Nagasaki and Hiroshima,” adding “get it over quick”. The Republican congressman also said that the same logic should be used in Ukraine to “defeat Putin quick”. Walberg’s call to destroy Gaza drew harsh criticism in the US, especially from President Biden’s Democratic Party.
