Uddhav Thackeray dared both Speaker Rahul Narwekar and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to meet him in front of the public and let them decide which faction is the real ‘Shiv Sena’.

Days after Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar declared the Eknath Shinde-led faction as the ‘real Shiv Sena’, Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday dared both the Speaker and the Chief Minister to meet him in front of the public and let them decide which faction is the real Shiv Sena. He further targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for ditching his party in Maharashtra.

“It is my open challenge to Shinde and to Narwekar. They should come without police protection. Narvekar should stand in front of the people and declare which faction is the ‘real Shiv Sena’. Let people take a call on who to bury,” Thackeray said during the Maha Patrakar Parishad.

Uddhav Asks Shinde Unite Against Speaker

Further pointing out the Shinde faction’s move to the Bombay High Court against the Speaker’s decision to not disqualify Uddhav camps MLA, the UBT Shiv Sena chief said that he will support the Shinde government in bringing a no-confidence motion against Speaker Narwekar.

“Shinde has now approached the High Court that they haven’t got justice. It is my open appeal to him to call an Assembly session. I will support him in bringing a no-confidence motion against the Speaker. Let us send him home,” Uddhav Thackeray said.

Notably, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s faction moved the Bombay High Court against the Maharashtra Speaker’s decision to not disqualify members of Uddhav Thackeray’s faction of the Shiv Sena on January 10. The petitions were filed on January 12 by Bharat Gogavale, the chief whip of the ruling Shiv Sena, against the 14 MLAs, news agency PTI reported.

Speaker Narwekar Condemns

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker has condemned the ongoing allegations levelled against him by Shiv Sena (UBT) and said that such use of derogatory language against the Assembly Speaker is harmful to the democratic structure of the country.

“On 10th January, I read judgment on the disqualification of MLAs. For the last six days, some political leaders and workers have been misleading people about my judgment. Shiv Sena (UBT) is using derogatory language against me. They don’t even respect the Assembly speaker. It’s really harmful to the democratic structure,” Narwekar was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Uddhav Attacks BJP

Accusing the BJP of ditching the alliance in Maharashtra for power, Uddhav Thackeray asked, “Why did Amit Shah come to seek my support to form government in the state? You took our support and then broke the alliance. On whose support did Fadnavis enjoy the Chief Minister’s position for five years?”
