In a shocking video that emerged from Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur, students of Jamshedpur Workers’ College’s art room were seen wearing helmets while attending the class on March 7. They are forced to wear helmets due to the dilapidated situation of the university’s building which can cause the building’s roof to collapse at any moment.

In an interview with a portal, the students said that they have to wear helmets to attend classes and save themselves from any potential injuries. Some of the students have been hurt as well due to the falling of the ceiling plaster and many have reported about the collapse of the balcony structure. The students have now started wearing the helmets as a mark of protest against the school authorities as they didn’t pay any heed to their concerns raised multiple times. Some of the children were also seen protecting their heads with the bags.

After the video of this incident went viral on social media, the media had a conversation with the principal of the college SP Mahalik regarding this incident. The Principal expressed his helplessness at this situation and said that the last repair of the building was done 20 years ago. Mahalik said that he had reported about this incident to the higher officials but no action has been undertaken on his complaints.

Rajesh expressed displeasure saying that the University officials have not taken proper measures to address the problem despite the situation being reported regularly in the media, He added that students didn’t feel secure on the college premises.

As of now, there is no update regarding the unanswered complaints about the crumbling state of the college infrastructure. As evident in the video, not just the art room, but the entire building of the college lies in shambles. In an interview with the Times Now, a student expressed that the roof of the art room should constructed afresh so that there are no chances of any mishappenings with them.
