As seen in mockups shared by MacRumors, the camera island now has a vertical camera arrangement with a raised, pill-shaped surface that contains two separate camera rings for the wide and ultrawide cameras. The flash is put separately, outside of the module.

The mockups match with the renders shared by tipster Majin Bu on X (formerly Twitter). The tipster suggests that the iPhone 16 could look similar to the renders, but might not be entirely the same. They add that it will combine the design of iPhone X and iPhone 11, but there will be some variation.
The iPhone X had a pill-shaped camera with a slim bump, while the iPhone 12 used a wider square bump that housed the flash and microphone as well as the vertical camera.
Rumour has it that the iPhone 16 could bring support for capturing Spatial videos, a feature that has only been available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro models. Thus, the new camera lens arrangement is to enable the support for Spatial Videos.
Another change expected is the Action button, which first debuted with the iPhone 15 Pro models, could finally replace the mute switch on the iPhone 16 as well. The new prototypes for the iPhone 16 feature a smaller Action button that is similar to the one found on the iPhone 15 Pro. Additionally, there is a new pressure-sensitive Capture button that sits flush with the frame of the device.
Rest the next iPhone should look the same as the current-generation model, with Dynamic Island having uniform bezels on the front and slightly curved edges. So far, there is no word on what colours the iPhone 16 will be available in, but the renders show them having similar shades as the iPhone 15.
