India-Canada Row: Nijjar Supporters Describe him as Khalistani Tiger Force Member, Photo Goes Viral – News18

Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar has been described as a member of the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) in a photo put up by his supporters at a Gurdwara in Canada.

A video of the set-up went viral on social media with many people including Canadian journalist Daniel Bordman, pointing out that Nijjar’s followers accepted he was a member of the KTF at a time when the diplomatic tension between New Delhi and Ottawa are at an all-time high.

“Just supporters of Hardeep Singh Nijjar describing him as a member of the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), a group described on Wikipedia as a “militant faction of the Khalistani movement” and listed as a terrorist organization in India,” Daniel Bordman wrote in an X (formerly Twitter) post.

The June 2023 killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar outside a Gurudwara in Surrey, Canada waged a diplomatic war between New Delhi and Ottawa after Canadian PM Justin Trudeau claimed India’s involvement in the Khalistani terrorist’s murder.

Outraged, India termed the allegations as “baseless” and “motivated”. The rift between the two countries further soared after Canada expelled a senior Indian diplomat and India too, in a retaliatory move, asked a Canadian diplomat to leave the country.

India further suspended its visa service in Canada and asked Canada to withdraw 41 of its diplomats posted in India.

Meanwhile, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau said Ottawa is not looking to escalate the situation with India.

“Canada is not looking to escalate the situation with India, and will continue to engage responsibly and constructively with New Delhi. We want to be on the ground in India to help the Canadian families there,” Reuters quoted Trudeau as saying.
