Doncic was told that just before the match, their coach Jason Kidd compared him and Irving to Superman and Batman. Doncic gave his own take on the superhero reference and claimed that he was Irving’s sidekick.

Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic performed brilliantly yet again and helped his team beat the Sacramento Kings 132-96. This was the Dallas Mavericks’ fifth consecutive win.

In the post-match press conference, the NBA superstar also heaped praises on his teammate Kyrie Irving.

Doncic scored 28 points in the game against Sacramento, with 11 rebounds, and 6 assists. Dallas are on a 9-1 run and currently occupy the sixth spot in the Western Conference standings. Dallas are just a win behind the Pelicans who are in the fifth spot.

When Irving, an 8-time All-Star and one the best shooters in the game, joined Dallas last year fans got excited about the possibility of another “double-act” in the NBA with Luka Doncic.

Those hopes have become a reality this year. In the game against the Kings, Irving scored 24 points, three rebounds and eight assists. They were ably supported by Tim Hardaway Jr who chipped in with 22 points.

After the win, Doncic was told that just before the match, their coach Jason Kidd compared him and Irving to Superman and Batman.

Doncic gave his own take on the superhero reference and claimed that he was Irving’s sidekick. “He’s Batman. I’m Robin. Nah, just amazing, man. Having him on our team is amazing,” Doncic said.

The Dallas Mavericks won their fifth consecutive match on Tuesday and with that feat, they also gained two crucial points.

They entered the match by finishing in the sixth position. On the other hand, the Sacramento Kings won their first two matches and are now eighth after losing to the Mavericks.

A finish in the top six will help teams qualify directly for the playoffs and avoid the much-dreaded play-in tournament.

The Mavericks had a scoring advantage in all four quarters of their match against Sacramento. After the win, coach Jason Kidd talked about his team’s improved performances and emphasised that they are peaking at the right moment, just before the playoffs.

Dallas will next take on the Houston Rockets on Sunday night. Houston may have started slowly and lie in the 11th spot in the Western Conference but they are currently on a 10-0 run.
