Google Maps offers the option to mark locations and save them for future use. All you need to do is tap on the location and add a pin to save that particular location with a text annotation. 9to5Google has reported that now Google Maps will allow users to mark saved locations with an emoji instead of text.
Google Maps to get emoji icons for saved locations
Google has dropped a GIF via its official X handle showcasing the functionality of emojis on Maps. Tapping on a location on a map opens up a new menu, where users can tap on the Save button. After this, a new panel has been added which lets users add a name for the location and there’s a new icon option at the top centre, tapping on it reveals the emoji list. Earlier, this icon was limited to heart, star, suitcase, flag and list icons.
Adding emojis will give users more options and also add more personalisation for the location that they are saving.
However, there’s one limitation here. Google Maps has provided the option to use emoji icons. But, this doesn’t let users change the icon for each location that users will save. Instead, it only lets users change the icon for the entire list.
Users can change icons for existing saved lists
To make this more intuitive, Google Maps will let users change the icon for the existing lists. To do this, tap on the Saved icon from the bottom of the screen. Scroll down to see the lists that are saved. Tap on any list and then tap on the three-dot menu at the right of the screen.
Now, tap on the Edit list button and select the emoji from the list.
