GATE 2024 was conducted on February 3, 4, 10 and 11. This national-level entrance exam is conducted to offer admission to PG programmes in leading colleges

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is scheduled to announce the results of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), today, March 16. Candidates who appeared for the GATE 2024 exam can access their results through the official website at gate2024.iisc.ac.in. Once the results are announced, candidates can log in to the Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal of GATE 2024 to view their results. Along with the results, IISc is also expected to release the cut-off details for the year 2024.

The examination was conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru and seven IITs. The GATE 2024 examination witnessed a staggering 6.8 lakh applicants this year. The exam was conducted on February 3, 4, 10 and 11. This national-level entrance exam is conducted to offer admission to postgraduate programmes like ME, MTech, and PhD in leading colleges, as well as job opportunities in both government and private sectors.

Following the announcement of the GATE 2024 results, candidates can access their scorecards via the GOAPS portal starting from March 23, 2024. This scorecard is essential for eligible candidates as it enables them to apply for MTech programmes or PSU recruitment opportunities through GATE.

GATE 2024: Counselling Process

GATE counselling comprises two main components: the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) and the Centralized Counselling for MTech (CCMT). COAP facilitates admissions to IITs based on GATE 2024 scores, while CCMT manages admissions to IITs, NITs, and GFTIs.

COAP allows candidates to check their GATE 2024 results and seat allocations by top IITs and IISc Bangalore for MTech and other technical programmes. Through the COAP portal, candidates can accept, retain, or reject their assigned seats.

On the other hand, CCT utilizes GATE 2024 scores to counsel students seeking admission to M Arch/M Tech/M Des/M Plan courses at participating NITs and GFTIs. The GATE 2024 CCMT counselling schedule will be accessible on the official website, ccmt.admissions.nic.in, and comprises five stages.

GATE 2024: Cut-Off Criteria

To qualify in GATE, candidates must meet certain criteria set by IISc. It consists of two components: a ‘qualifying cut-off’ and an ‘admission cut-off.’

The qualifying cut-off is the minimum score needed to pass the GATE exam. It varies for each of the 30 disciplines and depends on the candidate’s category. The institute announces this cut-off when the results are out.

The admission cut-off is the minimum score required by candidates for admission to different institutes. Each institute sets its own admission cut-off based on the discipline and category of candidates. These cut-offs are announced during the admission process.
