During her visit to India earlier this year in January, she recalled the time when her husband denied working for her saying that she won’t be able to afford him. Poonam participated in the NRI event when she shared that during the interaction with her husband to work with her, he was earning Rs 80 lakh per annum. Despite the refusal, Poonam kept working towards the growth of her company. As a consequence, a time arrived when her husband was working for her at a salary of Rs 1.5 crore.

When she discovered that European and American companies threw tons of scrap paper as they focused on selling the best product and then spent crores in disposing of the paper, she started buying these papers from companies existing across various countries.

Her first deal was with an Italian company. The company agreed to sell these papers as they were nothing but a liability. Through the first deal itself, she generated a revenue of Rs 40 lakh for two containers of paper. In 2004, she decided to take another step and founded a company named PG Paper in Scotland. She asked her husband to join her as the business needed an ally. Her husband denied it and told her to manage for six months. After six months, he joined the company at a package of Rs 1.5 crore.

The couple soon forayed into construction, IT and hospitality businesses. Now, the company’s net worth is over Rs 1,000 crore. Poonam now owns 9 companies with multiple offices located in 7 countries. her business transaction transcends boundaries and expands to 60 countries.
