The Islamic cleric claimed that he has been facing protests after he visited the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony

Days after ‘pran pratishtha’ of Lord Ram at the grand temple, a fatwa has been issued against Dr Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, Chief Imam of All India Imam Organization (AIIO), for attending the January 22 ceremony in Ayodhya. The fatwa against Imam Ilyasi has been issued on behalf of Mufti Sabir Hussaini.

As per reports, the fatwa urged other clerics in India to initiate action against Imam Ilyasi.

Responding to the development, the Imam said he would issue another fatwa to challenge this one.

“I am not living in a Muslim country…This does not apply to me… I’ll challenge it,” he said.

The Islamic cleric also claimed that he has been facing protests after he visited the Pran Pratishtha ceremony.

“I have informed the Home Minister Amit Shah, Delhi police commissioner about it and have called a meeting of all Imams,” he added.

A fatwa is a ruling on a point of Islamic law given by a recognized authority.

Chief Imam of All India Imam Organisation, after attending the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, said his job is to spread the message of love and harmony, and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his ‘message of unity’.

“This is the face of new India. Our biggest religion is humanity. For us, the nation is first,” he said.
