Ecuadorean police converted 21.5 tonnes of seized drugs into cement on January 25, as part of efforts to fight trafficking in the Andean nation.Authorities estimate the destroyed drugs would have been valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars on the black market, said Anti-narcotic Police Division director William Villarroel.Using the so-called encapsulation method, Ecuador pulverises seized bricks of cocaine in industrial machines with other refuse at a waste disposal plant before mixing the resulting fine powder with cement, sand and water to create concrete platforms.
