Rose Hanbury and her husband are part of Prince William and Princess Kate’s inner circle.
Rose Hanbury, a close friend of both Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton, quashed rumours of affairs between her and Prince William. She told through her lawyers that these swirling rumours are “completely false”.
The rumours of Rose and William having an affair were making rounds on social media but gained much prominence after American late night TV show host Stephen Colbert on his show did a segment on the rumours of the affair between the Marchioness of Cholmondeley and the Prince of Wales.
Marchioness of Cholmondeley is Rose Hanbury’s royal title. Rose Hanbury’s grandmother Lady Elizabeth Lambart was one of the bridesmaids at the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s 1947 wedding, according to a report by the New York Post.
“The kingdom has been all aflutter by the seeming disappearance of Kate Middleton. Well now, internet sleuths are guessing that Kate’s absence may be related to her husband and the future king of England, William, having an affair,” Colbert said in his episode.
“There have been rumours of an affair between William and the Marching Band of Chicanery since 2019. According to tabloids back then, when Kate supposedly confronted him about it, he laughed it off, saying there was nothing to it. Always a good response when your wife accuses you of cheating,” he further said during his show.
“Oh no, my heart goes out to poor Kate,” Colbert said on his show.
Royal insiders in 2022 said that the rumours of Rose and William having an affair were “false and highly damaging” while speaking to the Daily Beast.
The response came after Instagram gossip account Deuxmoi in 2022 claimed a British royal couple’s “extramarital affair is an open secret, as per a screenshot shared by news magazine Cosmopolitan.
There were also rumours that Kate and Rose, who were close friends, had a falling out in 2019, but those reports are unverified.
The rumours come amid the drama surrounding Kate Middleton’s whereabouts who has not been seen in public – until last Saturday – since her abdominal surgery.
Kate and William were seen shopping Saturday at their favourite farm store.
