The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has announced the appointment of Dr Joseph Emmanuel as its chief executive and secretary. This appointment will come into effect starting May 1 as per a letter by the CISCE chairman G Immanuel to all heads of CISCE affiliated schools across India, reported Hindustan Times

The letter that was sent to the participating schools reads “With pleasure, this is to inform you that Dr. Joseph Emmanuel has been appointed the Chief Executive and Secretary of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) with effect from May 01, 2024.”

Dr. Joseph Emmanuel previously served as Secretary and Director Academics at the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). He replaced Gerry Arathoon, the CISCE’s former chief executive and secretary, who retired in September last year after 21 years with the organisation. Gerry Arathoon has served as CISCE’s chief executive and secretary since 2012. The post of chief executive and secretary has been vacant since Arathoon’s departure.

Emmanuel has over thirty years of expertise in the field of education, and he has spearheaded the National Education Policy 2020’s implementation in CBSE schools all over India, according to Hindustan Times. Emmanuel has held positions as the CBSE secretary and as a regional officer in Panchkula.

Meanwhile, the updated Indian School Certificate (ISC) or Class 12 syllabus for the academic years 2025 and 2026 has been released by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), which is a huge step forward for its students.

The newly unveiled curriculum has undergone several modifications to enhance the educational framework and integrate it with rising expectations in academia. Interestingly, Group 3 subjects will include a range of occupational topics in the ICSE-level curriculum starting in 2025.
