Criticising Mamata Banerjee’s statement, BJP IT Cell Head said, ” For a sitting Chief Minister of a border state, who is under oath of the Constitution, to not recognise India’s official border, is not just problematic but seditious”

West Bengal Chief Minitser Mamata Banerjee recently claimed that Afghanistan doesn’t share border with India, while addressing a public gathering in Bengal.

The video clip in which Banerjee is heard stating so, gained attention after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT Cell Head, Amit Malviya shared it on his official X handle.

While sharing the video, Malviya called it ‘problematic and seditious’ and said, “Mamata Banerjee, in a statement, claimed that Afghanistan doesn’t share border with India. For a sitting Chief Minister of a border state, who is under oath of the Constitution, to not recognise India’s official border, is not just problematic but seditious.”

He further said, “By doing so, she is giving legitimacy to Pakistan’s illegal claim, over part of Kashmir. She must immediately withdraw her factually incorrect statement.”

On Wednesday, the Bengal CM also asserted that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is linked with the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and that is the reason why she is opposing the new legislation.

The TMC supremo said she doesn’t want detention camps in West Bengal, like those in Assam. “CAA is related to NRC, that is why we are opposing it. We don’t want detention camps like those in Assam,” she added.

While sharing her views on CAA, Banerjee further said, “They have totally put minorities Muslim out of this. This does not have any clarity. Assam CM has said nothing will happen to anyone. This is like distributing lollipops before polls. Anybody staying here for long or due to marriage should get the chance first. I don’t support this divisive CAA.”
