With the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the industry, Adobe has also stepped into the AI race and introduced several AI tools and features to enhance the user experience. From Adobe Premiere Pro to Creative Cloud, the company has rolled out back-to-back new AI features across several products.

The tech giant has finally unveiled generative AI-powered features for its Acrobat and Reader platforms. Dubbed Acrobat AI Assistant, this feature will make it easier for users to understand digital documents such as articles, long PDFs, and others.

The AI assistant was first launched in February 2024 in the beta version. After almost two months of testing, it is officially rolling out the new feature to users globally. Senior Vice President of Adobe Document Cloud Abhigyan Modi made the announcement and said, “Whether it’s doing taxes, creating and sharing research papers, or collaborating on contracts, Acrobat is the trusted platform for PDFs. Acrobat AI Assistant empowers billions of people to shift from reading documents to having a conversation, enabling them to get insights and format and share content from all kinds of digital documents quickly and easily.

Adobe describes the Acrobat AI Assistant as a generative AI-powered conversational engine that integrates with the Reader and Acrobat workflows. The company has used third-party LLM technologies that can assist users in multiple ways to provide a unique understanding of PDF structure and content.

The chatbot can suggest questions based on the content of a PDF and answer user queries accordingly. It is capable of following conversational speech, like major AI chatbots. The AI assistant has the ability to work on several digital documents, such as PDFs, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, meeting transcripts, and more. It can also create quick summaries from long documents in easy-to-read formats.

Furthermore, the Acrobat AI Assistant can also generate citations using a custom attribution tool. This empowers users to verify the source of the answers given by the AI by using clickable links to locate information in long documents. The summaries can be easily shared using a copy button given in the interface.

Other than the web and desktop interfaces, Adobe has also made Acrobat AI Assistant available in beta for mobile users. The new feature also supports voice commands. Users can find the AI chatbot in Acrobat’s existing Microsoft Edge extensions and in Google Chrome.

The Acrobat AI Assistant will be available for both desktop and web users with free Reader or paid Acrobat for individual plans. You can buy the new AI Assistant by paying a monthly subscription that starts at $4.99 (approximately Rs 420). The company claimed that this is early access pricing and that it may increase after June 5. In addition to that, Adobe also highlighted that the company is working to introduce a text-to-video AI model soon.
