The skirmishes in the Red Sea between the Western powers, the US & UK and the Iran-backed Houthis could take a serious turn in the future. Yemeni telecom firms warn that Houthis are planning to sabotage the network of submarine cables in the Red Sea, as per The Guardian. This is after a Telegram channel allegedly affiliated to the Houthis threatened to harm the cables that line the Bab el-Mandeb strait. The cables are critical to the functioning of the Western Internet and the transmission of financial data.
