Xiaomi HyperOS is coming to more phones in December.

Xiaomi announced the new HyperOS for its phones in October this year and more devices will be upgraded to the new OS before the end of 2023.

Xiaomi has decided to move into the new era by replacing the popular MiUI version with the new HyperOS platform which was announced in October. Many people have been excited and eager to see how Xiaomi plans to overhaul the UI of the new version and if the features will make it more intuitive and fluid than MiUi. We’re yet to hear about a wider roll out of HyperOS from Xiaomi but more phones are indeed getting the new platform in December this year.

As you can see here, the list mostly comprises phones that have launched in China, except for the Xiaomi 12 Pro and some of the Redmi K-series phones that come as rebadged Poco phones.

We still don’t know if Xiaomi phones launching in India will get the new version or continue to use the MiUi custom UI itself. Other brands have also followed a dual-UI strategy that allows them to cater to the non-Google and Google-supported markets.

For instance, Vivo offers OriginOS in China while those in India get the Funtouch OS with Vivo phones launching in the country. Similarly, OnePlus has provided HydrogenOS for many years in China, while sticking with OxygenOS for devices sold in India and global markets.

Xiaomi HyperOS Version: What It Offers

As we were hoping, Xiaomi claims that HyperOS comes with faster boot times and keeps apps in the background for a longer time. You also get a taste of the new AI feature to create images and pick text from photos.

Xiaomi is also going deeper into cross-product integration with the OS which is likely to be offered on other ecosystem products. For instance, Xiaomi says you can use the Xiaomi phone’s rear camera as a webcam for a Xiaomi laptop. There is also support for Dynamic Island-like features which hints at exciting things to come in the near future.
