Xbox Exclusives Might Soon Go Multiplatform, With Games Like Indiana Jones Launching On PS5 – News18

Console wars always feature heated discussions about whether one gaming platform is necessarily better than the other, with fans defending their console of choice. But ultimately, it all boils down to the games—exclusive games. With Microsoft’s Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo in the game, the discourse keeps on going. Now, it appears that Microsoft, out of the three, could take a drastically different approach to perhaps exit this fight altogether.

Unlike PlayStation and Nintendo, Xbox could be looking at making its games multi-platform, meaning Xbox games could one day launch on rival platforms like the PS5 and the Nintendo Switch. And this may kick off with some recently released and announced games like Starfield, Hi-Fi Rush, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

As reported by The Verge, Microsoft is considering a multi-platform approach for some of its games. “A new multi-platform approach for certain Xbox games is emerging inside Microsoft,” the publication said.

For instance, Hi-Fi Rush may be announced to launch on Switch and the PS5 in the coming weeks, while Indiana Jones and the Great Circle may remain exclusive to Xbox and PC for a few months, but eventually launch on the PS5 system, which is the company’s biggest rival.

However, this could all change as well, since the plans are not set in stone just yet. Additionally, with the recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard, discussions could be ongoing at the company regarding which titles to bring to rival platforms and which ones to exclude.

With that being said, seeing Xbox venture down this path and essentially embracing the role of a major publisher is bound to be interesting. Additionally, it will be fun to see the potential impact this move may have on the long-term landscape of Xbox gaming hardware.
