Why Has Getty Images Put An Editor’s Note On Kate Middleton Cancer Diagnosis Announcement Video? – News18

Getty Images, the major visual media agency, explained why it added an editor’s note to the video in which Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, revealed her cancer diagnosis.

The note was first spotted on Monday and made headlines as recently released edited photos by the royal family have generated major controversies. In March, a Mother’s Day photo of Kate with her children was withdrawn by international agencies as palace officials admitted that the photos were digitally altered and Kate herself apologised for causing concerns to well-wishers of the royal family.

“This handout clip was provided by a third-party organisation and may not adhere to Getty Images’ editorial policy,” the editor’s note reads on the Getty Images’s version of the video through which Kate revealed that she was suffering cancer diagnosis.

Getty Images then proceeded to offer an explanation as many jumped to form conspiracy theories on social media outlets and debating the veracity of the video.

Getty Images stated that the method of flagging the video was routine for content provided by third-party entities, such as Kensington Palace in this instance.

The Kensington Palace revealed that BBC Studios recorded the video of Kate announcing that she was suffering from cancer on March 20. BBC Studios also said that they filmed the video two days before it was released.

“BBC Studios filmed a message from the Princess of Wales at Windsor this week. We would like to wish Her Royal Highness a speedy recovery,” the statement read.

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” Middleton explains in the video.
