Vodka
Vodka is usually sourced by fermenting potatoes or cereal grains. There are a few brands that make vodka from fruits and molasses as well. It is a transparent drink that is known to contain anywhere up to 60 per cent alcohol content, hence it can affect the human body quickly in terms of intoxication. Whiskey
Cocktails like Whiskey Sour, Old Fashioned and Manhattan contain whiskey in it. Whiskey is a distilled drink that is made from rye, barley, wheat or corn by fermenting them. Generally, these drinks are fermented in charred white oak wood to give them a distinct flavour. Usually, it contains 40-50 percent alcohol in it.
Rum
If you have ordered Mai Tai or a classic Daiquiri from the bar, it will have rum in it. Rum has a high alcohol content which is made by distilling the by-products of sugarcane juice. The liquid is then aged in wooden or charred oak barrels to darken its colour and intensify its unique flavour. Sometimes, molasses, granulated sugar or caramel is added to give rum its distinct colour. It has 40 per cent alcohol content.
Beer
Beer contains water, hops, yeast and barley. Sugar is extracted from barley and then it is fermented with the help of yeast. It is also made of rye, wheat, rice and maize. Beers contain 4-6 per cent of alcohol in it. Hence, one can get easily intoxicated.
Wine
Both red and white wine have alcohol content in them, ranging from 5.5 per cent to 25 per cent. They are usually sweet in taste. Red wine is made by fermenting red or black grapes. The juice of the fruit is fermented. To make white wine, the skin of the fruit is usually removed.
