Reports indicate that Israel officially requested 25 F-15s as early as January 2023, with an option to acquire an additional 25. Israeli Minister of Defence, Yoav Gallant, voiced his desire for an expedited delivery of the F-15s during his recent visit to Washington. Now, the US is on the verge of approving a sale contract for approximately 50 F-15 Eagle heavyweight twin-engine jets to Israel. The deal is expected to cost a staggering $18 billion in total, with a hefty price tag of $360 million per aircraft.
