Mehdi Hasan, a bangle seller, got 482 out of 500 marks and topped the Ballia district.

The Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council (UP Board) announced the results for Class 10th and 12th on April 20. In the results released at around 2 pm on Saturday, 82.60 per cent of students passed the intermediate examination, while 89.55 per cent passed the high school examination. Shubham Verma from Sitapur secured the first position in the state in the Intermediate examination with 97.8 per cent marks.

However, the story of Mehdi Hasan from Ghorauli, Ballia district, has captured the hearts of many. Despite selling bangles and bracelets, Hasan achieved remarkable success in the intermediate examination, securing 482 out of 500 marks and topping in the Ballia district.

The way Hasan did wonders in the examination has filled today’s youth with enthusiasm and zeal and is a topic of discussion in the entire district. While talking to Local18, Mehdi Hasan’s mother, Maroon, expressed her joy and said that Mehdi balanced selling goods with household chores and dedicatedly pursued his studies.

Maroon said, “We are residents of Ghorauli village under Sadar tehsil of the district. My son used to sell bangles, bracelets and other items at the shop while doing household work. While doing all the work, he also studied with great dedication. It is not possible to describe happiness in words.” Mehdi, sharing his journey, mentioned that he dreamt big and aspires to serve the country by becoming an IAS officer.

He added, “I come from an ordinary family. I received my education from Ganga Bhaiya Inter College, Taghrauli, located some distance from home. There is a small shop on the platform in front of the house which is run by the family members together. I had a dream to do something big, so while doing all the work, I also studied with full heart and dedication. I have secured 482 marks out of 500 i.e., 96.40 per cent in the Intermediate examination. My dream is to serve the country by becoming an IAS.”

His father, Sirajuddin, expressed his surprise and immense pride in his son’s achievement, emphasizing that Mehdi’s success has become the talk of the town. Sirajuddin said, “The happiness that my son has given by overcoming the adverse circumstances at home was not expected in reality. Today, wherever you look, my son, who sells bangles and bracelets, is being discussed.”
