The Bengaluru-based organisation Era Foundation is aiming to make the students of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam University of Technology (AKTU) experts in new technologies. For this purpose, the institution will run an innovation centre in the university. Every year, around 2,000 students will be trained in a 60-hour course in various subjects. After this, the trained students will not only go to industries, but will also be able to begin their own start-ups. For this purpose, a team led by Chancellor Annavi Dinesh Kumar and Vice-Chancellor Professor JP Pandey has travelled to Bengaluru.
The team will brainstorm for setting up a centre and understand the functioning of the organisation. The institution will run the innovation centre in the university. For this, around five thousand square metres of space will be required and the space will be provided by the AKTU. Tools, machines, computers and other materials will also be installed in the centre and will be provided by the university. Apart from the manpower, experts will also be sent to the centre who will be trained by the organisation. These experts will train the students in design thinking, robotics, data analytics and Internet of Things.
The university has more than 750 institutions affiliated with it. A large number of students study various courses at AKTU. In this situation, the university is taking this initiative to make the students technically competent. In the initial phase, around two thousand students will be trained at the innovation hub every year. This skill development course will be of 60 hours. In this, 30 hours of theory and 30 hours of practical will be imparted. After completing the course, the trained students will present a prototype of an idea.
Records will also be made for students during the training. This will be useful to them in future. The team that travelled to Bengaluru was led by Registrar Annavi Dinesh Kumar and ASO. Dean Innovation Dr Anuj Kumar Sharma, Associate Dean UG Dr Pradeep Kumar, Deputy Registrar Dr Ayush Srivastava and Head of Innovation Hub Maheep Singh are also present in Bengaluru.
