Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday assured people to implement six poll promises guaranteed by his government.

“Telangana people has to celebrate today as the process of formation of Telangana state has initiated on December 9, 2009. Sonia Amma (Congress parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi) is true replica to Telangana Talli. Sonia Amma has given us an opportunity to proudly say that the Telangana is ours. Sonia Amma has given six guarantees for the sake of Telangana people. Today, the state government has taken the responsibility of fulfilling two guarantees out of the six,” he said while addressing a gathering.

He launched Mahalakshmi scheme aiming to provide free travel facility to females in the state owned Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) buses.

“From today onwards women can travel from anywhere to wherever they want in the TSRTC buses without paying any charges across the state” he said. CM Reddy also enhanced the limit of Arogya Sree to Rs.10 lakh.

The chief minister also handed over a cheque worth Rs. 2 crore to boxer Nikhat Zareen on behalf of the state government. Nikhat Zareen, who hails from Nizamabad in Telangana, said she would like to work hard and get a good name for the state.

Along with Reddy, Akbaruddin Owaisi, pro-tem speaker to the state assembly and, Shanti Kumari, Chief Secretary to the state government, Sajjanar, managing drirector of TSRTC were also present.

Under the Rajiv Arogyasri health scheme, the poor would get financial coverage of Rs 10 lakh. Under the ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme, women can travel free of cost in the state-run Road Transport Corporation (RTC) buses.
