Neha Mehta, renowned for her portrayal of Anjali Taarak Mehta in the iconic sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, is gearing up for a comeback in the entertainment industry through a new Hindi play. During her two-year hiatus, Neha embarked on a unique journey, honing new skills and rediscovering her roots. However, the actress shared that she never feels nostalgic because her character Anjali and the show always hold a special place in her heart.

In an interview with Etimes TV, Neha said, “I don’t miss Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah or my character Anjali because she is always with me. Like my parents are in my heart the same way, the show stays in my heart. Audiences have always loved and supported my character ATM (Anjali Taarak Mehta), and still get all the love and support. This play is just an extension of my personality. I belong to my audience, be it Anjali Bhabhi from Taarak, Vaishali from Dollar Bahu, or Saroj from Bhabhi. I want only love and blessings from my audience.”

The actress also revealed how the COVID-19 crisis prompted her to step away from the limelight and spend valuable time with her family. She explained that her family’s concerns led her to return home during the challenging times, where she embarked on a two-year journey of organic farming, taking care of cows, and even participating in a Gujarati film and advertisements.

“I did not sit free because I have been used to working all these years. My dad made me learn all these things. I worked closely with nature and I also did a Gujarati film and ads. My two years have been amazing,” she added.

For those unaware, Neha Mehta is no stranger to the silver screen. Prior to her iconic role in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, she made her presence felt in Bollywood with a role in the 2008 drama EMI. The film featured Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Urmila Matondkar, Malaika Arora, and Aashish Chaudhary in pivotal roles. In EMI, Neha portrayed the character of Urmila’s friend. The film did not do well at the box office. However, the same year saw the premiere of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah on SAB TV and Neha’s role in the show made her very popular.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a hugely popular TV sitcom. It first aired in 2008 and has been running successfully for over 15 years.
