Sony has sold 50 million PlayStation 5 consoles in little over three years since its launch in November 2020. This year’s November was the biggest for the PlayStation 5, the company said in the press release. “Achieving this PS5 sales milestone is a testament to the unwavering support of the global PlayStation community and their passion for the incredible experiences created by the talented developers from PlayStation Studios and our partners,” said Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. Recent hit games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 by Insomniac Games, Baldur’s Gate 3 by Larian Studios, and Alan Wake 2 by Remedy Entertainment and Epic Games, along with popular titles like EA SPORTS FC 24 and Roblox have driven the momentum for PS5 sales. The PlayStation 5 has not only outsold its predecessor, the PlayStation 4, but it has also surpassed Microsoft’s latest-generation Xbox Series X|S consoles in terms of sales this year.
