Arsenal scored a crucial late winner against Brentford to move to the top of the Premier League standings. Arsenal’s newly signed midfielder Kai Havertz found the back of the net in the 89th minute to earn full three points for the visitors at the Gtech Community Stadium in London. It was a much-needed win for Arsenal to keep their title hopes alive and the victory was cherished by Colombian pop star Shakira as well. Following the win against Brentford, the traveling fans were heard chanting ‘Waka Waka’, a popular chartbuster sung by Shakira back in 2010. Sharing a video of the chant, Shakira wrote on Instagram Stories (currently not available) “Waka waka Arsenal style.”

Shakira had released ‘Waka Waka’ ahead of the 2010 Football World Cup held in South Africa. Since then, the song has become immensely popular, having sold around 15 million downloads globally. Previously, Arsenal’s traveling supporters had sung a snippet of ‘Waka Waka’ after Kai Havertz scored his maiden goal for the Gunners in a 4-0 win against Bournemouth in September.

The 0-1 win over Brentford helped Arsenal claim the top spot in the Premier League standings for the first time this season. Kai Havertz came off the bench in the second half and scored a decisive header to register his first goal from open play for Arsenal since leaving Chelsea in the summer. His maiden Arsenal goal came against Bournemouth from the penalty spot. The win was quite special for Mikel Arteta who was managing Arsenal for the 200th time at the Gtech Community Stadium.

“When you have an opportunity to take a bite out of everybody you have to do it,” Mikel Arteta was quoted as saying by news agency AP.

Having joined Arsenal this summer, Kai Havertz has so far represented the Gunners 20 times across all competitions. The German international has made eight starts till now in the Premier League. this season. Havertz, quite understandably, seemed elated having netted the winning goal against Brentford.

“These late winners are nice, and then to celebrate in front of the fans it was a good feeling for sure. The cross was amazing and I thought maybe why not do this run and the ball was perfect and I scored,” the 24-year-old said, as per AP.

Table-toppers Arsenal will next feature in a midweek Champions League fixture against French side Lens at the Emirates Stadium.
