Real Madrid Manager Carlo Ancelotti Praises Nico Paz After Champions League Win over Napoli – News18

Real Madrid midfielder Nico Paz came off the bench in the second half and scored a crucial goal to earn a victory for his side last night against Napoli in the Champions League. The 19-year-old midfielder, who is the son of the former Argentina international Pablo Paz, netted a spectacular goal to put the hosts 3-2 up with five minutes to go at the Santiago Bernabeu. Paz has so far represented Real Madrid in four matches and scored his maiden goal for the European giants last night against the Italian opponents. Real Madrid eventually went on to claim a resounding 4-2 win against Napoli. Following the conclusion of the Champions League tie, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti was all praise for Paz. Ancelotti even called the Argentinian “a player for the future of Real Madrid.”

“It’s a special night for him and obviously he is a player for the future of Real Madrid. He has all the quality that a Real Madrid player needs to have. He came up big for the team at a moment when we needed it,” Carlo Ancelotti said in the press room, as per Managing Madrid.

Nico Paz, on the other hand, could not have asked for a better timing than this to score his maiden Real Madrid goal. Paz came on the pitch at a time when the game was finely poised 2-2. Paz not only found the back of the net but he also put up a fine show to guide his side to a win. Needless to say, Paz seemed absolutely elated after the match.

“I’m very happy. This is a dream. For a moment I couldn’t believe it. I feel so happy to have helped the team. (My academy teammates) congratulated me, as did the whole squad. We’re an amazing group. (Carlo) Ancelotti congratulated me,” Nico Paz explained during a post-match interview with Movistar+ (via Diario AS).

Striker Joselu scored a late goal for Real Madrid in the 95th minute to ensure his side’s top-spot finish in Group C of the Champions League. With five wins from as many games, the Carlo Ancelotti-coached side have maintained an impeccable run of play in the Champions League so far this season. With one more group stage fixture still to be played, the 14-time champions have already qualified for the last 16 of the competition.
